First in Malaysia – Speaker Sivakumar putting on his official rob (to prove that he is still the legitimate speaker) to convene a state assembly meeting under a tree.
There was a blockade by police in front of state secretariat building to prevent PR state assemblymen from entering. All PR state assemblymen were then forced to convene the state assembly emergency meeting under a tree about 100 metre away from the state secretariat building.
3 motions had been passed unanimously. First, a motion of confidence in Datuk Seri Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin as the legal Perak Menteri Besar; second, an agreement to seek Royal consent for the dissolution of the state assembly; and third, the adoption of the suspension of Perak Mentri Besar Datuk Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir and six executive councillors he appointed.
Later, Dr Zambry filed a suit to seek an injuction from Ipoh High Court to stop “all unlawful sasembly sittings” by Pakatan Rakyat, which had formed the state government before BN took over in the January.
The restraint order however is not retrospective and does not over this morning emergency sitting in which 3 motions were passed.
