M'sian furniture makers want rethink on doubling worker levies – THE STAR
Malaysian furniture makers have appealed to the Government to reconsider the move to double the levy on foreign workers in the industrial sector as it would hurt the already lagging furniture industry, said Malaysia Furniture Entrepreneur Association president Desmond Tan.
Coincidently, we have a family member here who are involved in furniture business. I just had the chance to visit the factory last week and found out that ALL the workers are Bangladeshis.
So, the cost of doing businesses will increase now. Furniture has to be sold at a higher price. Consumers are burdened.
Mr Government, please rethink of your budget. Thank you.
p.s. If only Mr and Mrs Liew are able to read this blog, I would love to hear their opinions.
