Black Soup Koay Teow

I am going to introduce you a new dish today. A dish that can hardly be found in Penang (at least I think so).

black soup koay teow Personally I call it black soup koay teow, but it’s actual name is 粿条仔。It is basically koay teow immersed in black soup and you’re given some side dishes.

Since I opted not to eat internal organs, I was given some slices of pork, fu zhok, dried tofu and an egg.

chilly with vinegar The chilly is worth mention because the aunty is quite clever to add in some vinegar. The vinegar added some sensation to the tongue and it definitely added some score to my overall ratings!

Image046Wuhoo, here comes the black soup koay teow. Koay teow was silky smooth while the black soup tasted just nice, not too salty. You will tend to drink the black soup while eating, and without knowing, probably you would have dried them up! But no worries, if the aunty happens to see that you dry up your soup before finishing the koay teow, she would be so kind to add in more soup for you! One more point scored.

Address: Ho Ping Kopitiam, Taman Impian Emas, 81300 Skudai.

My ratings:

Comment: 5-star. It’s delicious. Everything came in together just nice. The portion, the saltiness, the taste are all in good combination. It’s worth trying!

Value:

Comment: 5-star. The price is RM 3.50 (But sometimes the aunty charged me RM 4, I don’t know why). Since I was only charged RM 3.50 this time, I would give it 5-star. If the aunty charged me RM 4, then I might cut one – 4 star.
